Letter from the President
Dear Members,
Spring is around the corner, and with it comes the hope for continued progress in the fight against the pandemic that has been with us for over a year now. Vaccinations are becoming more available, and we hope the promises are true that most adults seeking the vaccination will be vaccinated by late May.
We are committed to providing an enjoyable and safe convention. The Otesaga Resort Hotel has informed us of their stringent protocols in place for all events. They are confident, as are we, that our 55th Annual Convention will meet all required guidelines and be a great success.
We are excited about our CLE program, which will offer 6 CLE credits. Our keynote speaker, Matthew Moffett, is returning to our annual convention after being with us in 2018 in Lake Placid. His program on the Reptile Theory was enormously successful, and he will update us on that same topic. We look forward to hearing from him again. Our members are providing excellent programs on Openings and Closings; Title 59 and our annual Civil Case Law Update. The Honorable Douglas Arpert will join our program providing his insight and information on the Federal civil practice, and there will be a program from Exponent on “Perception & Expert Biases: Analyzing Testimony & Critiquing Opinions.”
We hope you will join us. The Otesaga Resort Hotel is an historic, elegant and charming resort on the shores of Lake Otsego. The Village of Cooperstown is an easy walk from the hotel and is home to the National Baseball Hall of Fame and the Fenimore Art Museum, as well as many other historic and cultural sites. Enjoy getting out on the water of Lake Otsego, play a round of golf at the award-winning Leatherstocking Golf Course or explore the hiking trails at Glimmerglass State Park. Most importantly, the annual convention is a great opportunity to network with NJDA members, obtain valuable CLE credits and enjoy a weekend away with your family.
Enclosed you will find the registration materials and information regarding the nominations for our annual awards. The hotel will release the room block on May 10, 2021. Please contact The Otesaga reservations department as soon as possible to reserve your room.
I look forward to seeing you in Cooperstown!
John V. Mallon, President
New Jersey Defense Association
