Annual Women in the Law Seminar

The NJDA sponsored its 6th annual Women and the Law seminar on November 11, 2015 at the Hotel Woodbridge. The seminar was extremely well attended by both the Plaintiff and Defense bars with over 120 Judges, attorneys and paralegals participating in the event.
This year’s seminar included speaker participation by 4 sitting Superior Court Judges as well as Justice Anne M. Patterson, Justice of the New Jersey Supreme Court. Popular past topic areas including Judicial Perspectives and Social Media in Litigation were once again well received. For the first time, the seminar speakers broached some of the more sensitive and thought provoking topics that are timely to today’s practicing women attorneys. Specifically, the areas of Diversity and Inclusion and Identifying Systemic Sexism produced lively and informative commentary from both the speakers and the audience.
Feedback from the seminar has provided us with some great ideas for next year’s seminar including the possible addition of a networking luncheon, technology updates, and additional topics related to ethnic diversity.
