Recap: 10th Anniversary of Women and the Law

The New Jersey Defense Association held its Women and the Law Seminar on November 11, 2019. It was the 10th anniversary of this seminar and again had record breaking attendance. There were a variety of presentations including panel discussions from the Judiciary, Corporate Counsel and Plaintiff and Defense Attorneys. In addition to the judicial perspectives provided by our Federal and State judges on the panel, there were presentations on professional development and strategies for retention and advancement of women and diverse members of the profession. Our panel of plaintiff and defense attorneys provided strategies for picking a jury in a civil case, and there was also a discussion of inclusivity in the workplace and bridging the gap between law schools and law firms presented by our panel from Cardozo and Rutgers Law Schools. Stress in the workplace was addressed in an informative and entertaining presentation. The surveys indicated the attendees’ appreciation for the variety of topics and the quality of the presenters. Our annual Dress for Success drive held in conjunction with this seminar was another successful event and is always supported by our attendees, who provide interview appropriate clothing for women who are trying to get back on their feet and provide a better life for themselves and their families.
